Study team and supporters gather at AAHA conference
Morris Animal Foundation staff members were on hand to greet the many Golden Retriever Lifetime Study veterinarians and participants who stopped by our booth at the American Animal Hospital Association Conference, held in Austin, Texas, March 31-April 3.
Thirty people and six four-legged friends attended the Yappy Hour event hosted by the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study team Friday evening. Study participants and veterinarians had a great time meeting each other. A study participant brought a surprise birthday cake for Golden Retriever Lifetime Study team member Thomas Stevens, who was celebrating his 29th birthday…again.
Dr. Missy Simpson, veterinary epidemiologist at Morris Animal Foundation, presented to AAHA attendees a lecture on the study titled, “Overview & Analysis: Updates from the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study.”
The lecture included data on the four main study outcomes (osteosarcoma, lymphoma, hemangiosarcoma and mast cell tumors), as well as preventive care statistics and health indicators based on the regions study dogs reside. The lecture was the most comprehensive review of the study and preliminary data given to date. Dr. Simpson will be giving another study-focused lecture at the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Forum in June.
Thanks to everyone who joined us at AAHA. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
