Celebrate More Birthdays by Supporting the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study
How many birthdays do you hope to celebrate with your beloved canine companions? A wise individual once said, “The best birthdays of all are those that haven’t arrived yet.”
We all wish to spend more time with our canine friends, and Morris Animal Foundation’s Golden Retriever Lifetime Study will enable more pet owners to do just that. Dr. David Haworth, Foundation CEO and president, envisions many more doggie birthday cakes, toys and treats in his Golden Retriever Bridger’s future.
Bridger recently celebrated his first birthday and is a proud study participant. His journey is just beginning as he moves from having the occasional “accident” to passing through his chewing phase. And who can forget puppy breath?
As Bridger progresses through this adventure, all facets of his life will be observed and noted—what he eats, how much he exercises, what his home life is like, etc. The data collected from Bridger and the other dogs in the study will help answer scientific questions, such as are certain behaviors linked to certain diseases, and how do exercise, diet or environment factors affect a dog’s long-term health?
Although no one can predict the future, for Bridger and the other study dogs like him, one thing is certain: Their lives will have impact far beyond the joy they bring their families.
Their study participation will become a legacy they leave to other dogs and their human companions. By agreeing to participate in the study, their families also join in this monumental undertaking to improve the health of dogs everywhere.
Help us find the answers to cancer and other canine diseases so we can bring more birthdays to your dog, Bridger and all the dogs that come after them. To learn more about Morris Animal Foundation and our other programs please visit morrisanimalfoundation.org.
