The Country’s Largest Canine Extravaganza
When the American Kennel Club and Eukanuba co-hosted Celebrate Dogs! in Orlando, December 13–14, Morris Animal Foundation staff were there to join in the nation’s largest event to celebrate our canine companions. Erin Searfoss, senior project manager for the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study, and Roxanne Davis, director of organizational giving, enjoyed meeting canine heroes participating in the Morris Animal Foundation’s Golden Retriever Lifetime Study.
Study participants spread some Golden cheer and joy to the event’s “Meet the Breed” attendees. The volunteers joined efforts with the Golden Retriever Club of America* to showcase the versatility and cheerfulness of the Golden Retriever breed. In nearly every showcase, from conformation to obedience to dock diving, you could find a Golden Retriever. There were even a few Christmas “devils” at the event.
The American Kennel Club and The Golden Retriever Club of America have been instrumental in helping the Foundation recruit 3,000 Golden Retrievers under the age of 2, and their owners, for the longest observational study ever undertaken for canine health.
As we near our goal of enrolling 3,000 Golden Retrievers, events such as Celebrate Dogs! provide a valuable opportunity for study participants to connect with one another. Many breed club–sponsored gatherings focus on advancing and protecting the integrity of their breeds, and what better way to do just that than by participating in the groundbreaking Golden Retriever Lifetime Study? Let’s celebrate ALL dogs together.
