Update v16-1

Golden Retriever Lifetime Study Update v16-1

The Golden Retriever Lifetime Study is excited to announce a new process for distributing biopsy kits. A standardized biopsy process will help ensure prompt evaluation of abnormal tissues. Additional tissue samples from a biopsy also are requested for long-term storage and future analysis.

Biopsy sample kits are enclosed in each patient’s odd-year study examination kits (e.g. Year 1 Annual, Year 3 Annual, etc.). For your convenience, this biopsy sample kit contains all necessary supplies including shipping materials. The kit should be stored at the participating veterinary clinic for use as needed. You will receive one kit per enrolled dog and the contents will be pre-labeled with your dog’s information.

Should any additional mass or masses require removal throughout the year, additional biopsy kits are available upon request. Please allow 3-5 days for shipping. Complete instructions are available in the standardized Biopsy Collection and Shipping Instructions on the study website veterinary resource page.

As always, the decision of whether or not to collect any biopsy is up to the owner and the veterinarian. Histopathology is provided to the veterinarian at no charge by Antech Diagnostics (VCA, Inc.), a platinum partner of the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study. If you have any questions please contact us at grdogs@CanineLifetimeHealth.org or 855.4GR.DOGS (855.447.3647).
